Heres how he huntin regs read for my county

Archery Only: October 2-November 5, 2010. No permit required to hunt antlerless deer unless MLD permits have been issued for the property.
Bag Limit: 4 deer, no more than 2 bucks, and no more than 2 antlerless, all seasons combined.
            General Season: November 6, 2010-January 2, 2011.
On USFS, Corps of Engineers, and river authority lands, the take of antlerless deer shall be by permit only. During the first 16 days of the general season, antlerless deer may be taken without permits. After the first 16 days of the season, antlerless deer may be taken by antlerless MLDP or LAMPS permits only.

The way I understand it, you can hunt with bow, but still have to follow general season regs. If it is either sex until a certain date, then yes you can take a doe until that date. I don't know about Texas, but I know some states have certain days that are buck only during gun season. I have yet to hunt in Texas. Hope this helps.

Check out the link below from TPW web site for Rusk County....I would not take anyones word on what/when you can kill in your county as the game warden will not be issuing citations to anyone but you. Check out the link to be sure....

We are in the General season, doesnt matter what you kill them with as long as it is considered Legal Means. Yes you can still use your bow.

You can take up to 2 does total (including any you may have already taken during Archery season) until November 21st.

call the Texas Parks and Wildlife number. Ask them. There are different regs for different counties... My advice - make double sure before you shoot a doe during the regular season... Call the TPW dept before you go out...
