Sea Service Log for captains license?

I am organizing my Sea Service Log, and just want to make sure I am logging all the correct information that will qualify me for my Captains License test.

Here is what I am tracking:

Vessle Name, Vessle Type, Propulsion, Official Hull Numbers, Horse Power, Date, Hours on water, Hours underway, Days on water, and notes.

    Am I missing anything?

check the coast guard web page under license and they should have downloadable forms that tell you what you need. Been a few years since i have done it

Keeping all that you should be good. I don't remember them asking all of that. I think just time, vessel, date, and numbers. As long as the CG can verify the information if they want. More than likely they never will. They just usually take your word for it. You don't actually need this until you apply for the license. You do not need it to test. At least that is the way I experienced it several years ago. Good luck!

Might want to send Coup De Grace a PM. He's got his capt. license and could probably help you out.

If you own the vessel, retain copies of your insurance and sales \ service receipts through the period of ownership.

            Good luck!

I'm sitting on 5.5 years of Sea Time and I've been kicking around the idea of doing the same thing. I'm ready for a career change and fishing commercially Mar - October with the rest of the winter wide open for other things seems like a good fit for me at this point in my life.

Not sure what kind of license you want to sit for but I belive you must also have a TWIC card to get a license. Do know you need one to renew license.

Yup, you do need a TWIC card for renewal. Im in DFW and Tulsa is closest for me to get that. I have to go to Tulsa for a short meeting, then I have to go back shortly later to pick it up in person. Renewal is not fun. If anyone in DFW has to do this lets carpool in aug. lol
