Rabies Vaccines

Has anyone gotten the vaccine for themselves? Either from exposure or prevention? I applied for a job yesterday and one of the requirements is that you receive your rabies vaccination upon hiring and was just wodnering if it was really as painful as everyone always says it is. You always hear about it but I don't know anyone who has actually had the shots.

Its a pest control(trapper) position with an organization.

Jason, is it just the regular shot spread out or the human immune globulin? The normal shots are simple, but the h.i.g. hurt. I was just alot of medicine to get at one time and it was very thick.

I don't know Darrell. It just says you mush receive your rabies Vaccination as a condition of employment. When I googled it it says it is a series of 3 to 5 shots given in the abdomen.

I don't think they do that anymore. That sounds like the h.i.g. though.It makes you immune for 5 or 6 yrs.....but it is a pretty good shot. They gave me 1/3 in left cheek...1/3 in right ...and 1/3 in the top of the hamsting...it made me sore for 3 or 4 days. Good luck....it won't kill ya.

No problem on the help. This job is actually kind of in your neck of the woods. Its on Fort Hood. If I get an interview for it, I am not sure if it will help, but I will beg for the job.

The first shot in the old rump hurts a little, about like a tetanus shot. The rest weren't bad at all

about 15 years ago I got bit by a horse that had rabies and I had to take four shots in the abdomen, and they hurt.
