Figure this is a long shot but thought I would try. My family owns Rays Grocery in Breckenridge and we are the only processor in Stephens County. I go down and help on the weekends. I take the deer hides and salt them down and sell them to a bulk buyer. Well, my buyer says he has no market for deer hides and won't be buying them this year. Called around and haven't gotten any new leads. Anybody on here afflilated with a processor and have a buyer that you wouldn't mind sharing their contact info? Stand to lose a chunk of $ this year if I don't find a buyer. With kid #2 due in Jan, this is not good timing. Thanks for any help provided.

Depends on the market that year. Last few years it has been $2/hide if they were salted. Doesn't sound like much but if you have 750-1000 hides it adds up. A bulk buyer buys from the smaller guys such as me and then sells one big load (5K-6K) to a buyer that uses them for leather products. Alot of times the buyers are overseas.
