    Mounting a Flashlight to Stabilizer

I'm going to give a shot at making my own light for night hunting hogs but I don't want to mess with having to tap a hole and finding the right thread size for a screw in model... I just want to mount it directly to a simple stabilizer. What method have you guys tried for this and what has been most successful?

There's always duct tape. Or zip ties.

A while back, I bought something similar to this, to mount a mini-mag light on the barrell of my 10/22. Mine is two separate pieces, with one bolt in the middle. Depending on the diameters of you stabilizer and your light, something like this might work.

I just used a u-bolt with flat bracks on both sides and bolted it on.

I thought first about duct tape but then I reconsidered thinking that having the metal light rubbing against the metal stabilizer might not be a good thing. Then again, if I use u-bolts like rileydog did the two parts would be pretty snug so that might be the ticket. Texastaxi- that's kinda what I was looking for. The wildcard right now is that I don't have a cylindrical stabilizer (I use a Simms Modular) so I'm going to have to get one and have no idea what the typical diameter is. Good ideas, guys. Keep 'em coming!

Yeah, the SIMS might not work too well.
Look for one that's hard and no bigger than an inch in diameter.

I just won a Hawg Light on ebay last night for 20$ and 5$ shipping.. I was trying to figure out how to get a flashlight and colored lens attached, My wife told me to look on ebay over the weekend and bingo..... I can't beat the price or headache of trying to figure it out and make it work how I wanted to.

Turned a aluminum tube and tapped it, added stud. just insert Mag light. Could use PVC, end cap, and saw off a bolt and thread PVC.

I made my own from a 2C cell maglight. But had to drill end cap and add bolt. Put a door bell button/switch on riser with red photo film (which I have a lot of)on lens and viola..
Oh yeah, you don't want to build that...

I have leftover bolts from one of my builds. I can send one.

Yeah, I've got the parts (flashlight with pressure switch end cap) so I'm good to go in that area. It's the mounting part that I'm trying to work through. The PVC idea isn't bad but I would think that thing would have a lot of vibration coming off of it!

If it is a maglite, just take the battery cap off, drill a 5/16 hole thru it, stick a 5/16-24 screw thru the hole and put a nut on the outside. Real simple to do with just a hand drill.

This^^. I bought extra. Screws right into your stabilizer mount hole. I rigged mine like this, just without the pressure switch. This flashlight works real well.

if you are going to mount a flashlight such as a sure fire or similiar on to a stabilizer simply go to home depot or lowes and buy two payne hangers for emt conduit 3/4 inch and mount them back to back one on the stabilizer the other on the flashlight. Payne hangers are just an electrical trade name, standoff straps etc. this works very good.
