    TC Encore Pistols?

Fellows, I'm on a new area of our lease this year and we started with guns last weeked. A lot my stands are limited to around 100 yds and have small box stands set up. Stands are a little snug for my usual rifle. Anyone have experience with the encore pistols? They seem manuverable compared to a rifle. Any suggestions on caliber and set up?

7mm-08 with a 15" barrel will get you there easily

No experience with their pistols. But I can assure you I won't ever buy one of their TC Pro Hunter Encores again.

I do think that the pistols are pretty neat and as stated above the 7mm-08 is what I would choose.

Love my pro hunter, never any problems.

Cbrown, I'll make you a smokin' offer if you still got that 25-06!

What's normal for accuracy from these guns? I currently have a 8" barrelled .454 casull that is punishing to shoot. How would the 7mm-08 recoil compare in a pistol?

I have a 15" custom shop barrel in .260 Remington. Had a muzzle brake put on it when it was built and I've shot a doe at 155 yards with it so far.

My Contender (Encore's little brother) in 7MM TCU (wildcat round, 223 necked up to 7MM, pushed a 140 grain bullet about 2100 FPS) was easily sub MOA.

One thing to remember with these pistols is that consistency in grip and rest is tantamount to success. I always had a different POI when shooting off of bags vs a blind window vs off hand. Not a big deal <50 yards or so, but it started to show up around 100.

I'm thinking of getting a 7-08 barrel to match my rifle barrel.

I have the encore pistol in 7mm-08 with a 3x9 scope on it. From a solid rest, you could shoot 200 yards easily. Recoil is not that bad, but make sure you have ear protection.

I shoot the Encore 22-250, 15" barrel and have shot 2 does at 100 yds. It has a 2x Burris handgun scope on it.

Why not buy you a shorter rifle? Like a Remington Model 7 or something like that would probably fit the bill for you.

my brother has one in 7-30 waters. thats a hand load only but man will she shoot. i love the sport of handgun hunting. 180 deg mobility. easy to get in and out of the stand. hit the range for a few weeks and 150 yards can be done if the weather is ok.

Is it just the length of the barrel that is the problem?

You can always get an encore with the pistol length barrel and add an extension or muzzle brake to make it a legal rifle barrel at 16 1/4".

I am going to build my daughter a rifle out of an encore frame with a 15" barrel in 22-250 with the muzzle brake on it and a youth buttstock. Short, lightweight, and accurate.
