AS Luck Would Have It I missed the big one

Saturday evening at 6:55 a nice 4.5 -5 year old main frame 10point buck came to the feeder walked around eating for a few minutes but would never present a decent shot. Then he turned walked a few steps away from the feeder stood broad side with his head up looking straight away .

Light was gettin low so it was shoot or no shoot. I settled the 30 yard pin right behind his elbow and let her fly. The buck spun to the left going straight away from me and was gone in a blink of an eye.

I waited a few minutes and listened as he snorted at me in the distance. I waited a few more minutes went to retreive my arrow. Only to find that I missed him completely.

I have always heard how fast they can spin but never experienced it until Saturday evening. My arrow was clean as a whistle no hair no blood, no blood drops in the area.

    I completly blew the shot.....

    Has anyone experienced this before?

This is why beyond 30 yards can be difficult and just beyond my range and comfortability

I like 25 yard shots broadside or slight quarter away, and try to shoot when they drop their head to eat

Yep. I sure have. With any luck he should be back to present you with another shot.

Everyone misses atleast once. I missed a yote at 15 yards last year...shot high. I still think about it.

I missed a doe earlier this year at about 40 yards, she knew something was up and jumped the string, ducking about 3 inches under the arrow. The next morning she came back in from a different direction. Had her at about 35 yards, I shot and she had already changed direction and taken 2 steps by the time my arrow got there!
