    bent/warped axel

I was shooting my bow sat afternoon and on the second shot,POW! My arrow didn't get very far and the nock was broke, I looked and my string was off the bottom cam. I fig it out and pressed it and got it back on and shot it about 20x and killed a doe sat evening with it. I was talking to a friend at work and tellin him about it and he said it sounded like a bent axel. Anybody expreience this before? Is it fixable? I'm gonna take it to pro shop asap, just lookin for some imput. Thanks

I would have taken it in after the string came off ... something ain't right.
You're lucky you didn't get hurt when it came off the first time. I think you might have used up all your get out of jail free cards by shooting it 20+ more times!

If the axle is bent, it wasnt before you shot. The broken nock created basically a dry fired situation. I would suggest you take the bow to a decent shop, and tear it down and check the axles, cams, and limbs for cracks or splinters. There could be some underlying issues that have now shown up yet.

It's not clear why your friend said you had a bent axle. Did he watch as you drew the bow and see the cam tipping over to one side or the other? Something else he saw or you felt when shooting it? Or just that it may be bent?

Yes you can bend an axle when something like that happens. You can also split a limb, get a crack where the axle goes through the limb, ruin a bushing on the cam. Lots of things could happen. I had a string break on an old bow of mine, and replaced it, bow was OK. Six months later I noticed a small crack on the upper limb where the axle went through. I'll never know for sure if A caused B, or not.

I'd take it to a shop and have them take it apart and look it over. The way I was told to check axles was to roll it on a piece of glass and listen for a click-click sound as it moves- but a factory trained bow shop should be able to give your bow hopefully a check up and say it's OK.
