    Travis Scores his First

Got my friend started this year in Bowhunting. Got him a Parker and started practicing back in the summer. Did not take long and everything was working good and the season rolled upon us.
Forward to last night. Travis (travisw68) hunted yesterday morning and only saw a single doe. He got out of the stand around 10, eased over and pulled my trail cam card and brough tit to me. We sat down and went through all 60 pics which included a decent bu, a doe and yearling, and a ton of Thunder Chickens...
We loaded up at 3 yesterday afternoon and headed out. By 4:30 we were in the stand. I was not seeing much, well nothing, until about 6:15 when I heard running and loud crashing. I look to the north just in time to see a deer running through the timber and into a thicket.
Bow at the ready, the deer never left the thicker. After about 30 min. I reached down and turned on my two way radio. About 5 min later, the signal came across. Our signal is to key the radio two times and if the other person has his on, he will key back. I reached down and keyed it back. That in when Travis informed me he had shot about 20 min. prior. I told him to stay put and I would be there shortly.

I gathered my gear, eased down the ladder and made my way to him. Once there, he pointed to where he had shot. This deer came in and stopped at about 5 yards from him, and he is about 12 off the ground in a lock on stand. As he is getting his gear together, I start looking for blood. He gets down and shows me his nock which actually blew off the arrow. Not finding any blood, he tells me which way the deer ran. We each get on either side if the trail and start looking. Still no blood, we get about 40 yds down the trail. Still no blood and No Arrow. I look ahead and see white. He sees it as well and we slowly make out way to him.

The body size on these Kansas deer just keeps on amazing me.

Congrats to Travis on his First EVER Deer. A nice Kansas 8 point Buck. I do know that is he was not hooked before, HE IS NOW....

You have to love the satisfaction you get when you introduce someone to Bowhunting and they "Get It"...

Sorry for the bad pics, all we had was a Blackberry..

After seeing his shoulder, I am sure you guys were off of the trail some. There is no way that shot left no blood. Good job and congrats!!!!

                      The Juan and Snipe,

We were on our hands and knees looking for blood and not a drop. The trail was wide open but covered in leaf clutter. I am sure there may have been some in some turned over leaves, but the only blood we found was where he was laying. There was blood everywhere when he crashed... Took out both lungs, but did not punch through the opposite side. Think I centered the front leg bone, hence the nock blowing off the arrow at the impact spot. When we quartered him last night we found the broadhead and about 4" of arrow inside. Never found the rest of the arrow, and I went and looked again this morning.
I am sure it is there somewhere, just not sure where.
I do know that the Slick Trick did MASSIVE damage inside the body. I have never seen that much damage from a braodhead before..

100 Grain Slick Trick Magnum.. I have never seen that much damage from a broadhead inside the body. This deer almost looked like he was shot with a gun....
