    Well this sucks!

I went out to the garage this morning to get some tools and noticed a strange order coming from my fridge...first thing I noticed was that the fridge wasn't on. Opened up the freezer and it wasn't cold...50 pounds of venison was just sitting there rotting...it smelled to high heaven! I felt like a little kid who had just dropped his ice cream cone!

Come to find out that the breaker tripped somehow, so, how do I figure out why it tripped? Any ideas?

Something else on the circuit must have done it. Place a light in the same plug so you will know when it happens earlier next time.

What else is on that breaker? Figure that out and you will probably find your issue. Sorry to hear about all that meat...that's a shame

        Bummer.

Did like your connection to dropping ice cream.

Will do. Only thing else that runs through the circuit is a fan, not sure what tripped it since it's the only one that was tripped, never heard of fridges surging before...who knows...freaking sucks though. Man am I bummed out.

This happened to me earlier this year, and it is heartbreaking! We have GFI outlets in the garage and a lightning storm popped that plug. We didn't discover it until 5 days later. Lost a 20 cu ft freezer FULL of venison, hog and javelina, along with mine and a buddy's trout from a recent Port O trip.

            Sorry for your loss.

I saw this happen to someone else last year so I went and bought a new freezer with an alarm...when it falls below a certain temp it starts beeping.

Next thing I kill and wrap up for later I'm keeping in the fridge in the house, I'll put all the other frozen foods in the fridge outside since we never use it anyways!

                      Thats nothing!

When our first was born my wife produced a way more than the baby could consume. So she spent 3 months pumping and saving up with the intention of using the saved up milk for the future. Well she was out of town, I had some liver in this freezer that I grabbed in a hurry to go fishing with and didn't shut the freezer all the way. It was a week later when I discovered all the spoiled milk. To say the wife was mad was and understatement!

Not a win from my pov. Just letting you know I feel your pain.

That reminds me - I still need to go buy a freezer alarm. D'oh!

Plug as small radio into the same outlet and leave it going so you know when it goes out. And if its a GFI outlet change that sucker out. I have heard this story too much. Podnuh lost half a moose and about 100lbs of salmon when his went out...
