Kansas- Leave on the 3rd or wait a few days

Im leaving to go hunt the NC part of KS on the 3rd. This is my frst time hunting Kansas. I can hunt for about week or so. The forecast is calling for temps in the upper 60's and lows in the 40's until the 8th. Starting then, the temps gradually fall. The 11th and 12th are calling for temps in the mid 40's with lows around 20 with possible rain and snow. There is a new moon on the 5th. Only being able to hunt for 6-8 days, should I wait a few days to leave so I could hunt the 6-13? Either way, it looks like Ill have a decent moon phase. Common sense says to wait a few days and be able to hunt the few days before the front moves in and be able to hunt during the colder temps. What would be better hunting as far as the rutting activity goes? I want to see what you guys think?

Well, I'm leaving on the 3rd, so I guess you now know what I think. I prefer to hunt the moon vs. temperature changes and cold fronts, but the cold willl have them moving. I was up there the first week of October and it was cold early in the week, but I saw does running around during mid day on the eighth and ninth when it was in the mid eighties. Good luck!

I would wait a few days. Moon or no moon...deer will rut the same. Cold fronts are what you need for more daylight activity! FYI...Im going to TRY to head that way the 7th or 8th! Good luck!!

How did all of ya'll get started hunting in Kansas? What is the process for someone that has never done it? I am very interested in making the trip up and looking for advice!

Best place to start is by putting in for the draw during the spring. From there, looking for some good public or WIHA land, or trying to find some private ground. It isn't easy to find a place.

I couldn't wait. We are leaving on the 5th for South Dakota. It can't get here fast enough. Good luck.

I just got back last night. I don't think you can go wrong either way but from what I saw, wait a week.

I'm leaving early tomorrow morning, hunting two weeks.
I really don't like sitting in a stand in 20 degree weather.
Highs in the 60s are nice, but a wind whether north or south will make it feel cooler.
Kansas is the only place I've been where a south wind is cold.

As you can tell...everyone has there own opinions. Probably has to do with days they were successful on in the past. All I know is get in the woods as much as you can for the next month! This will be my 11th year up there and I have killed alot of deer on November6th through 8th! Good luck whenever you go..this is the time of year we all wait for!
