I have had an acl tear on both knees and one meniscus repair. Compared to the acl's the meniscus was a breeze. I was walking the same day after the meniscus repair. This was about ten years ago. They had to remove a large amount of cartilage. So far other than occasional soreness my knee is fine. Like Casey said be aggressive with rehab and fight through the pain. I pushed it very hard after all my surgeries and that seemed to do the trick. I even went duck hunting in the marsh two weeks after my acl repair.

well, u know my sinerio Chris...ACL,PCL,MCL and meniscus all at once ont eh same knee. It only took about 2wks to get back on my feet. But i did 2 1/2 mnths of REALY hard therapy. It shld feel better faster cause there hopefully isnt any ligament damage. Good luck!!!

I had extensive internal damage to my L knee due to to many jumps out of an airplane 398 to be exact, Had the ACL removed and a cadavor put back in and the meniscus completely removed, burris sac had ruptured and now a saline sack under knee cap, postior horn has been removed and no cartalidge at all they inject me every 6 months for chronic pain, Oh by the way had this done 4 times, rehab is a minium of 18 months. I walk with a limp but I call in 23 years of character as an Airborne Ranger, I guess it is better that not walking at all, you will be fine and recover well in no time..

Nothing I've ever had hurt worse than a bum knee , had mine fixed mow I can honestly say nothing feels better than a good new. All my pain was gone in 6 weeks . I had a torn Meniscus first had that repaired, five yrs. later I had a Total knee replacement. and I can tell you for sure I never felt better.

I had a major "bucket handle" tear repaired last March. Wish I could tell you the surgery was a piece of cake, but it was the most painful thing in my life! I agree that a small tear can be easy, but the problem with healing is that the meniscus is very avascular tissue and bloodflow is required for healing. Mine is already torn again...confirmed with my buddy doing an mri for me. Next surgery will be a removal. I will deal with early arthritis and a knee replacement in 20 years before I do a major meniscal repair again! The muscular atrophy in my leg has still not completely recovered.

                X2.
I had surgery October 30 last year, and I am getting ready to have it again in two weeks or so. Never was pain free and then was knocked off of a ladder fighting a structure fire.

Two on the left and one on the right for me. The key is to do the rehab as prescribed.
