    Hog light flashlight...?

So I have been in a discussion all morning with a guy I work with and yes we have referred to the TPW book to see if a hog light flashlight is legal when mounted to the end of the stabilizer?? I know a laser light is not legal but they are telling me a hog light mounted to the bow on the stabilizer is NOT legal?? Can someone help clear this up for me. I showed him in the book where it talks about it but we are still unclear of the wording and if you can actually hunt with it??

I would not be in the possesion of a deer and have one attached to my bow or on my person. Local Game warden told me that as long as you were hog hunting it was ok, but did ask that i give him a courtesy call on the nights that i was going to hunt.

Hogs yes, I hunt year around with mine on. I dont turn it on when deer hunting. There is NO LAW about having one in posession. All Wardens in my area know I have it on and dont seem to mind. As long as you do not use it to harvest deer they are 100% legal to have on at any time.

Ugh... this has come up many times.

Why WOULD it be illegal? IF you are hunting during legal hunting hours what advantage would a flashlight offer you? Who the heck cares if you have a flashlight during the day, whether its on or off?

The ONLY time it would offer an advantage is walking to the stand in the morning before daylight, or walking from the stand after dark. I've never seen a rule that says you cant have a flashlight while walking in the dark...handheld or mounted.

NOW, if you are going to be hog hunting at night during deer season it would be a great idea to give the local game warden a call and let him know about it.

ok thanks a million everyone! yeah of course the only time I use it is when I am walking the stand and have to have it on because like many other places in Texas right now we are over run with hogs and would not go out to the stand without it so that's why I was wondering. Not really "hunting" with it but to be able to see what is between me and the stand! again thanks a million and I will be sure and let our local game warden know!
