Hoyt Alpha Max 32 vs. Bowtech Equalizer

I've been shooting my Bowtech Equalizer LH for about 3 years now. Decided to get the Hoyt Alpha Max 32 LH after a hunting buddy bought one and a used one just happened to pop up on the Classifieds here that was at my draw length (26 inches).

    First impressions:
The AM 32 is a much smoother draw than my Equalizer. But, the AM 32 has very little valley. The Equalizer is a more aggressive draw and has a distinct valley. You definitely want to hold the AM 32 hard against the back wall. Otherwise, it wants to go forward. The Equalizer is more forgiving until you get a little fatigued. Then, it wants to go forward too. The Equalizer has a let off of 80% while the AM 32 is 75%.

The AM 32 feels lighter than my Equalizer. I'll have to check the actual bare bow weights on them.

The Equalizer has an ATA of 33 1/4 while the AM 32 has an ATA of 32.

Both are quiet and have little to no hand shock.

I haven't chrono'ed them. But, I believe the Equalizer is faster at 53 lbs draw weight than the AM 32 at 60 lbs. The speed cams on the Equalizer make the difference in speed.

My Equalizer is dialed in for hunting. So, I'll be using it for sure until I get the AM 32 dialed in too. Then, who knows.

ON the Alpha Max 32 Move the drawstop screw in the Cam down 1 hole. The wall will be slightly softer, but you will see a big increase in valley.

It will be like night and day difference, I lost a few arrows due to the bow jumping over the valley until I moved the screw. Let me know if you see the same difference I did

What Dangerous Dan said. I, too, have a short draw and have shot both bows. Currently shooting the Hoyt because of the smooth draw. Equalizer was a little faster but not as pleasant to shoot for me and you had to stay on top of it to keep it in tune. Both great bows and I'd shoot either one as my go-to bow.

SO How big of a difference did you see after moving the draw stop screw?
