What is the true meaning of "Final Destination"

I am not new to hunting but I have had numerous questions go unanswered or a debate started on the term from TPW on "Final Destination".

Here is one question: If you shoot a deer and quarter it up and drive straight to your home, then If you leave it on ice for a couple of days and decide to take it to a processor do you need the head with the animal?

I guess the main question is when do you not need the head anymore?

    Thanks in advance,

the answer is YES. If you have the animal at your house, and then transport it to a processing location, the head needs to remain with the carcass. Final destination means the place where the animal is processed for consumption. If you are processing at home, then when you are done, you can dispose of the head. If you take it somewhere, the tag and head must go with the meat. The processor will take the tag, in case they get audited by TPWD.

      Thanks.

What if you debone your deer and then take it to the processor.

Is the processor supposed to keep the head while processing or just upon arrival? I have never had a processor keep a tag, is this common and are they supposed to?

Sorry for all the questions just trying to understand the rules.

I have always taken the meat in deboned. They don't keep the tag with it. I was told if they debone it, a tag must accompany the 1/4s. Not real sure on the legality of it all.

I think Legdog can answer this since he got a ticket for it.
