    UPS virus email warning

Just a warning about a pc virus making its way around again. It comes in a email about a UPS missed delivery. My laptop got this virus 2 days ago. I usally delete these type of messages but was expecting a package. I knew I was in trouble when it started extracting files. Within a couple of hours my laptop was trash.

Anyone know a good PC doctor? I even tried to do a restor from a backup with no luck. I have a second laptop of the same manufactor with a cracked screen I am going to try and swap the hard drive.

Oh great, i got that same email. I was expecting a package, thought it kind of wierd that they had my email but now days they can get all info. I'll have to watch the laptop, what did yours do, just crash or did it show some tell-tell signs.

Just opening the email did nothing. There was an exe file that ran when clicked. It made the desktop disapear and only the file manager would be displayed. No start menu. I was able to locate the control panel but unable to do a backup restore even though I did a full backup to an external hard drive last week. After a few hours of this the PC just died and will not boot up. What ever you do, do not do a reboot until it is fixed. The reboot is what killed it once and for all.
