rut in duval co. ?

Anyone hunt in duval co. Or knows when the bucks start chasing does? Whens the best time of year to rattle? I'm trying to figure out when I should make plans to hunt all day.. Any suggestions appreciated

When I use to hunt there about 4 years ago they would usually start chasing just about Christmas and full blown rut shortly there after. This was Southern Duval county between Hebbronville and Falfurias.

I hunted Duval county last year and few deer we had in the area started chasing week before christmas but we only saw young deer place was over hunted.

December 15th is when you will see real rut activity, but you could start rattling anytime. I would start giving it a try after Thanksgiving. It will vary on different places. Sometimes they will respond to rattling all season. Sometimes they won't at all, even during full rut.

I am between Hebbronville and Mirando City and also 6 mile s from Bruni. The rut usually does not kick off until Dec 15th or so. Light rattling pre-rut is good, but I have had the best success around New Years Weekend through the 2nd week of Jan. Have rattled in a few on the last weekend of buck season as well.

2 miles North of Freer on HWY 16; rut is like clock work, December 15, the bucks simply loose their mind.

I hunt outside Benavides and the rut is going strong between the 20th of Dec - 1st of Jan.
Thats why I schedule my vacation then...I tell momma its cause of Christmas!
