First year bowhunter ?'s

It is my first year to bow hunt and I've never hunted the pre rut either, I've had some small bucks chasing does but they've been staying just out of my shotting lanes. My ?'S are is it to early to start rattling or grunting in east texas so I might get them to come in alittle closer. I am in some pretty thick woods and don't have a whole lot of shotting lanes I have seen a few deer in the hay field behind me, should I stay where I'm at or try the hay field at this time of year.

couldnt tell you honestly!!! 2nd year bow hunting here and have not seen hardly anything.
