Good use of a crossbow

To me, this is what the crossbow what meant to be used for.
Dad hasn't hunted for the last 4 or 5 years. He got where he couldn't pull a bow anymore and his knees got so bad he couldn't do much walking.
He had both knees replaced and bought a crossbow this summer. Yesterday he got his first deer at my sisters place on the Red River just outside Waurika, OK. Dad turned 80 this past June. I'm pretty proud of him.

No better reason to have one of them things than to keep those unfortunate not to be able to use conventional methods anymore. Same reason I got my dad one a couple of yrs ago. Congrat's to your pop.

You know i just fell and i think we all do our father, uncles,an family got us here an when they get there its our job to help those who suported us as kid enjoy it to the fullest and more.

AWESOME!!! I'm a die hard recurver and I've been dead set against the whole crossbow thang. BUT, thanks to your post and the look on his face and thinking of my own 86 yr old dad, I'm rethinking this. He may not ever want to shoot anything again, but he might. Never thought this might be the ticket to change that. Thanks and enjoy your dad everyday. "Such a deal"

I think another big plus to hunting with a crossbow in the archery season is the weather. He used to love the cold weather hunting. Now, not so much. Now he can hunt while the weather is nice and stay home in front of the fireplace with Mom when it gets cold.

I can't find a negative in this use of a crossbow.
