Need help troubleshooting a welding machine

have a newer (18 mo. old) Lincoln pro mig 140. We have welded allot of hours building hunting projects.

Welding today the wire drive roller quit working. I've tested the trigger for continuity with a multimeter. It works, has power to the trigger. When I turn the welder on the fan works, but pulling the trigger does not activate any solenoid clicking like it used to and the wire drive roller does not turn. what tests can I do to identify the failed part?

I will add, we have been mostly welding light mild steel, but today, got on some 1"x2" solid bar stock when it shut down. We new it was to heavy, but did it any way.... with that, still need help figuring out how to fix it.

some have a circut breaker if they get to hot. You have to push to reset.

Thanks for the responses. We let it set about 30 minutes thinking the same thing.... an praying we didn't burn it up!!!

Joe, We checked the reset button in the back, but it's not tripped. Hit it a few times for good measure, but no luck.

Check all your plugs. Sounds like you may have a broken wire somewhere that isn't gettin the juice to the roller.

I'm not really an expert at mig, but did you check the simple stuff? Is the tip of the gun clogged up? Like maybe you got some spatter on it and the wire can't feed? Just a thought. If not, 18 mos, you might still be under warranty.

sounds like it tripped the thermal protection. Let it sit and cool off. Also check your duty cycle on the welder,it's more than likely 20% , meaning you can weld for 2 minutes out of 10, especially if you have it cranked up to a higher amperage. You probally need to take a few coffee breakes when welding the heavier stuff.

make sure you have the dials on the front of the machine in the positive stop. I bumped mine once and it came out and would not feed. I called tech support and felt like a DA when we found that.
