Why do you say the rut won't happen until December?

I killed an axis doe and my girlfriend killed a pig last weekend. Been seeing quite a few deer, but nothing mature.

I spent opening weekend on ranch between Rock Springs and Brackettville. Saw some real nice bucks and a couple of Axis that would look real good on the wall, just never came into bow range.

What's your experience with rut timing in Edwards county? My bosses ranch is in that county and he has stated the same thing about the rut going in full swing in early December.

As for the original question....the last set of TC pics showed some really nice bucks with a couple being 3.5 years or so. Also had one pic with 4 nice axis bucks in the protein pin with two definitely being shooters. Of course the shooter axis only show at night. My boss doesn't bow hunt anymore and I haven't been out since the season has opened so no reports on any nice kills. The TC pics did show a bunch of fat does that definitely need some killin. On another note, all fawns seen were in pairs (ie twins).

I heard that had happened a couple or so years ago. I can testify that there are definitely 3 zebras (two adults and one fold) on my bosses ranch. I'm still waiting on pictures from one of his nieghbor ranchers. Search "what makes horns do this" to see what beast showed on the TC last time it was checked.

I've only hunted one season on Edward's county. I was not up there every weekend but I did see activity around the week of Thanksgiving. I keep trying to tell my Dad that I think it would have been better in December but he's hard headed. I was just curious if December is the norm?
