    am i being petty?

maybe its just me. but, here goes.

our company had its family day picnic yesterday. my shift was workin nites.. This is the 5th year in a row that my shift has worked the day of the company picnic and didnt have a chance to attend. They have a big golf tournament, bingo, games. Its a big deal. Everyone is fed a big bbq dinner. The company gives out goodie bags to everyone that attends. At the picnic, they give away door prizes like I pads, wide screen tv's, dvd players, gift cards. You have to have someone put you name in the hat for the drawings. Aint gotta be present to win, but you do have to get someone to enter your name.

we get to work last nite, no one brought dinner to any of the crews that had to work and couldnt attend the picnic. No goodie bags and no chance at door prizes. WTH? what kind of employee appreciation is that? I'm not really concerned that we didnt get a meal, but what really bothers me is that we never crossed anyones mind. No one in management made it a point to make sure the nite crew was taken care of. And they wonder why everyone has low morale at our plant. go figure.

ok, rant is over. i'll stop whining now.

Your whole shift should call in sick on the same day. They will remember after that.

If your company is anything like the one I last worked for the night shift has half as many workers and does twice the amount of work as the first shift and has to provide ALL the overtime! The last year I was there it was mandatory overtime on opening weekend of deer season. We told them that we would not be there (we were having to work overtime because as usual, the first shift didn't pull their share of the work). We were told that we would be written up and lose our whopping 3% shot at a possible raise that year. Nobody showed up and we lost our raise, oh well.

the most concerning part is how easily the mgmt and co workers were willing to forget about me and the other workers. I personally would be bitter and they would know because I would let them know, I would have never done that to them, period.

                      yes.

but, rant on if it makes you feel better.

better yet, stroll in there and tell em how you feel.

plenty of folks willing to pick up that annoying paycheck....

That sucks....and that's also (IMO) the problem with large companies today. The corporate office doesn't think anything of it's employees

No wonder no one stays at a comapany for 30 years like my dad did. No loyalty. It seems you are just a body.

I think your being petty. From what I can tell the company you work for pays you pretty good money to make sure the internet in continually operating. Seriously, after year 3 I think I would have said something.
