    Mountain Lion? Parker County

    My Story--
At last light Tuesday evening- about 745 - I am watching a coule younger bucks in front of me when i hear deer walking up the trail below me. They are about 40 yards behind me but walking on dried leaves so they are making plenty of noise. About that time i hear what sounds like a baseball bat hitting a punching bag. I mean serious Animal colliding with Animal sound. Then crashing and the screaming of a deer. Sounds like a doe bleat but much more distressed. In the same direction i hear deer snorting and going nuts.

Crashing continues for about a minute and the captured deer's bleats now are more of a gurgle. Then its all quiet for another minute. I hear a groan - a deep groan!!! guuurrrrrrrrrr.

I wait 15 minutes, put on my headlamp and head back there to investigate. This took some serious mental preperations but i figured he wasnt hungry anymore. I found the scene of the crime and there are several tufts of deer hair and leaves all shuffled around. But NO DEER. Unless the worlds biggest bobcat killed the worlds smallest fawn -then growled - I am thinking SIMBA may living in the big draw behind my stand??? Ive been sitting in deer stands since i was 5 and have never experienced anything like this.

A little background on the Area
NW Parker County. My feeder is about 100 yards from our property line and we are bordered by 8000 acres that isn't hunted or messed with. There arnt really even roads through the neighboring ranch - just lots of big oak draws and blue stem hillsides. 90% of the deer come up from the neighbors ranch out of a big draw running below/behind my stand.

The rib cage of the first animal i kill is getting hung in a tree 40 yards from my feeder with a trail camera on it. Hopefully this wont be the end of the story. Oh and this is the stand it happened from - but the attack was down below me in the other direction.

I can believe it. A friend of mine lives on Grandbury Rd near the county line and saw one in his back yard.

I heard from the grapevine that mountain lions think humans are just as tasty as deer...just saying.

That would be cool and scary all at the same time.

dang. we have rumors of one at our lease. I think the guy next to me got pics or something of the sort.

but that would be a bit intense.

Even without a ribcage hung up. You need to get a TC up stat.

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me at our lease in Stonewall county...we had several sightings of mountain lions but that sound was undescribable...and how fast it moved through the brush. It was about 30 mins before full darkness and I made a v line back to my atv...I was hunting alone on that trip and wasn't planning on investigating that night! lol
