Walk away, I wouldnt trust someone like Mike. And tell the land owner, I would want to know if it was my land.

          2 things --

          1) I thought the same thing after reading this thread. It really is just a business decision...

          2) I can wait to show the wife that there might be someone out there thinking like me... its going to really scare her, LOL!!

You have a contract with Mike to make widgets for $1 each. You find out that Mike has a contract to furnish those same widgets to Fred for $2 each.

What?! That Mike is a lousy chicken footed bastage! He doesn't make the widgets, you do! He wants to have a free ride and make money doing nothing! Not fair!

So do you keep making widgets for Mike or do you do an end-around and strike a deal with Fred?

See, it's not really all that complicated. It happens in the business world all the time. Best wishes in whatever you decide.
Point taken.....but I am almost 100% sure that the landowner is not aware of what is going on.....based on Mike telling me not to say anything to Steve or the landowners son. If I was the land owner, I would want to know what was going on.....or least know what other folks had access to my land

Im really neutral at this point....but if I have payed my money....and only found out after getting set up.....and Mike and family showed up....it would not have been pretty!

And NO, cant and wont do biz with folks that are being dishonest with me

I'd move on and find better hunting acquaintances. Waaay too much drama with these guys as far as I'm concerned.

Sounds like based on your last paragraph you have already done E.
                                Good Luck

Whatever backwards deal is going on here, you don't want to be involved in it, but I would like the landowner to know why you are not getting on the lease, It sounds like you have already talked to him, he may be glad to know that not everyone is getting a fair shake, or its not being run right. If you like the porperty enough this may be the way to go.
