    Work outs

anybody have good workouts to increase the strength of your bowhunting muscles?

    #2
    Yep.

    Pull ups
    Chin ups
Reverse Pull Ups (think a pull up, but instead do a controlled slow, 4 count drop)
    Push ups
    inclined push ups
    shoulder presses
    military presses
    dive bombers

Rows, all kinds of rows. Cable rows, upright rows, bent over rows, dumb bell rows, basically any pulling type of exercise. The key though is to balance what you work out, for everything you pull you should push something. Like bench presses, push ups, military press etc. Break it up and do back exercises with tricep exercises one day and chest exercises with bicep exercises another, and keep your weight at managable levels to get your muscles used to the stress. This will keep your body in some balance and allow for strengthening of the supporting muscles in addition to the main muscle groups, also if you have to choose between a machine and free weights or dumb bells, scratch the machine, they will do nothing for your supporting muscles compared to free weights, dumbells, and cables.

i have the black rubber cord w/ handles from our P90X kit. I tied it to our workout rack w/ a clove hitch at shoulder height. i pull it back like i was drawing my bow and hold for a count of 10. i do 3 sets @ 8 reps.
