I have won quite a few of them because prosecutors don't want to go to trial on traffic violations; so I like to tell them I would request a jury trial, if I can. It depends on what the violation is as to how far you can take it. Good luck.

Let it go. Maybe you don't deserve the ticket, maybe you do. Doesn't matter, you won't win that battle. As for the comment, although it was uncalled for, it's your word against his so that's a dead-end street too. You did right in keeping your mouth shut. Life's too short to fret over this. Take a deep breath and move on.

I use to pay all my tickets but not anymore!
I took the last one to court and the first step is for a pee-on from the Distric Atourneys office to try and settle your ticket. I was speeding and ran a red light when I was looking in my rearview mirror to see if the cop was turning around. Needless to say, he ticketed me for both offences. It was a little under a $500. ticket.
Took it to court and settled for $150 and defensive driving and it didn't hit my record!!!
That's my suggestion. Take it to court and see if they cut a deal.

The sunlight in the eyes is not an excuse and will mean nothing to the judge. Drivers are responsible to adjust their speed according to whatever the conditions are at the time. It doesn't matter if that's rain, ice, snow, fog or sun in your eyes. If you couldn't see the light clearly, you were supposed to slow down to the point where you wouldn't run the light no matter when it changed. Sorry, but that's just the law.
