    Kindle Users....some questions...

Question for you Kindle users. The wife just hinted she might like a Kindle. Her birthday is in November...so being the good hunting husband that I am, I need to log some more brownie points.... She has been an avid reader for years and has more books than I have fishing lures....although she;d argue that... She has always been a "real book feel" person but is liking her friend's new Kindle.

I am trying to decide between the Kindle Wifi and the Kindle 3G/Wifi. We have a wireless connection here at home and at her office so connecting shouldn't be an issue. Is there any other reason she should go with the 3G. I mean we are talking $50 bucks but why pay it if she won't use it. And well that covers the accessories too......LOL.

Also....what accessories do you recommend for it?.....leather cover?...car charger?...

My wife takes hers to the lease so she needs the 3G. Get the cover, it's real easy to drop.

You can get by without the 3G easy enough by planning ahead. It just depends on how much she thinks she would use it outside if work and home. It's nice to have the ability to download a book anytime anywhere or even surf the net. My wife has used hers on 3G just as much as wifi.

Are there any places LOCALLY you can get these? 2 weeks before they even ship if you order them direct from Amazon...

I thought I had replied to this but it has disappeared. I would probably get her the 3g version simply because it allows the downloading of e-books when on vacation, etc. Accessories would probably include a car charger unless you already have a power inverter in your vehicle. I like having a leather case on mine since it seems more like a "book" when holding it.

Get the 3G. Guaranteed it will get used. They have a web browser that is beta right now, but I'm sure will become more standard in the coming months. Remember you can also subscribe to newspapers and other periodicals that have daily releases. You definitely want a car charger and a case. You'll probably also want a clip on reading light. Remember the Kindle is not backlit and as such must be illuminated to see in the dark. Other than that I'd get her an amazon gift card so she can load up on books she wants.

Me nor my wife have the 3G and have not had any problems BUT like someone else said, before traveling, she may want to load a book or two depending on how much she reads. My wife bought a real nice cover (not super expensive just nice quality and "padded") when she gave me mine...I will try to find the brand but regardless, cover is needed!
