I bought a 2011 Polaris Ranger and I have a question. When I ride it on gravel or dirt roads which is 99% of the time, the dust pulls back into the cab for some reason. It had a full windshield when I bought it so I took it off and put the 1/4 windshield on it but it is still getting real dusty in the cab. I have ordered a top for it hoping that with the top, it will create a draft through the cab and eliminate the dust. Has anyone else had this problem. And if so did you find a cure? Thanks for any help.

We just had this conversation over the weekend, as one of my leasemates recently bought one. The opinion of the other Ranger owner was that there are only two solutions to preventing your slipstream from sucking dust in - no windshield at all or a fully enclosed cab. The former will cause you to freeze in cold weather, the latter is expensive. I'm sure some of the experienced Ranger owners around here can confirm whether or not that theory is true.Last edited by jerp; 10-06-2010, 08:37 AM.

No windshield at all here. It dont get that cold around here to justify me buying one. I ride alot more when its hot than when its cold anyway.
A buddy has a full front and a roll down rear, on summer night hunts we cant keep it un-fogged even with layers of rain-x. I spend all night with my head hangin out the side

We have a both a regular cab Ranger and a Ranger Crew. Both have the problem with dust circulating back into the cab. We use windshields in the winter and remove them during warmer weather. The dust is a problem in both scenarios. It's annoying to say the least. Only way to avoid the dust is to slow down!
If I was to replace the Ranger, I'd go with a Japanese mini-truck having the fully enclosed cab.

Without my 1/2 windshield I can't talk to the passenger with all the wind noise in my face.
For summer I have a 1/2 windshield with a ~ 4" tall x ~8" wide slot cut out of the lower center portion. This allows air to flow into the cab area providing air movement, but keeps the wind out of my face.
In the winter I put on a 1/2 windshield that doesn't have the slot cut in it since the slot freezes my son out when we ride 3 up.
Sealing off the seat area is also essential to reducing the dust blowback from under the engine bay.

We've had single cab & crews at the lease for years. They've tried EVERY combination with windshield, 1/2 windshield & back windshield. With, without... Any and all configurations.
Either go with nothing or a full cab enclosure.

I have a Ranger Crew with a top and the backseat has a nice layer of dust on it. The front isn't too bad.

My friend has a new teryx that does not have this problem. I am seriously thinking of biting the bullet and trading this one already.
