Anyone actually weighed deer before and after field dressing? If so, what percentage of total weight is lost in the process?

Not sure on percentage but our deer average about a 24-26 pound difference

Well, we don't field dress and so we weigh whole for the logbook. Mine weiged 170 lbs. on the hoof and looking for an educated guess for a field dressed weight.

We did that a couple of years ago and found for the bucks it was a 35 pound difference.

We used a computer equation in college when we entered over 5000 deer. the percentage is larger the more the deer weighs.

For a doe, they loose about 25% and for bucks they loose about 22% of live body weight to field dressing.
