    Black Hocks Already?

I just noticed this mature buck has black hocks already... What can this mean? It is in Milam County when the rut is suppose to be in November. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking this cool weather is gettin'em started a little early this year. Just yesterday, in my parents neighborhood, saw two young bucks having a pretty good sparring match with each other and a good, older buck chasing a doe. This is on the northwestern Bexar Co. line. The cooler weather and the abundunce of acorns is all I can think of that is different from last year.

That is a mature deer and is obviously showing the signs of a weak bladder. Since they do not sell deer depends, he must handle the embarrasing signs of black hocks before the rut gets started. You may want to shoot him and put him out of his embarrasing missery.

I watched big mature buck make a big scrape a pee all over his hocks the last week of September. This happened between Brady and Menard. The big boys will break off from bachelor groups and start marking turf long before the young ones will. Our rur won't peak until around thanksgiving.
