Apples For deer attractant?

Saw a post that apples were a good attractant for deer. I'm up here in NE Kansas and hunt an alfalfa field corner with a break in the fence. I am going to scatter some corn out to be an attractant but also hoping it will give the deer a reason to stop in my shooting lanes.

Went a friend of mines house and realized they have an apple tree in their yard with a ton of apples on it. Said I could have all I want.

So, should I pick a bunch and take out there? Will it be worth it? What do yall think?

It will work very well, provoded there are no Oaks in the area.. White Oaks are raining acorns where I am hunting so nothing else is gettin hit right now.


Although I would like to put out some apples as well...

We use them for Mule Deer and they love them.

Careful, I threw about four apples and some carrots under my feeder once south of Uvalde... Deer blew at em' from 40 yards... Wouldn't come near my feeder pen. Removed all the apples and carrots and sat the stand again that evening, had 17 does and fawns in the pen, none blew once. If there are no apples around, usually the apples will rot long before the deer trust them enough to try some. However, they love apple scented corn

Yep........apples in KANSAS is very normal. I suspect not many apples in South Texas. We have put out about 15 bushels and the deer (and cows) have a field day. Lots of orchards up there and lots of folks have them in there yards. Big time bumper crop this year on apples and stinkin acorns. Man, I can't wait until Thursday morning.

As a general rule, if your choice of attractant is not natural in the area, I will not use it. Just my 2 cents.
