Is a bow that maxes at 60lbs good enough to get the job done everytime? Ive heard 70 is just overkill to 60 but wanted to ask the publics opinion.
Thanks!
If your talking about a compound, yes. 60lbs is enough to hunt anything on the North American continent. I've killed elk with a 50lb longbow which far less than an equal poundage compound.
60 is plenty and momentum more so than kinetic energy plays on it. A stick bow doesnt have much kinetic energy but can still shoot all the way through moose with mid 50lb draw weight and 600gr arrows at a mere 170 fps. KE is based on velocity and you dont need velocity for awesome penetration.
Yep, 60 will do fine. A lot of ladies and youth shoot with a great deal less poundage and have good success. One more key element; keep those broadheads sharp!
