Very simple, the Pope and young club is a bow hunting organization. The definition of being a bow hunter is one that uses archery equipment. Archery equipment is defined as a hand drawn and held bow.
There are many that feel there should be no deductions when scoring. Buckmasters has a record book for whitetails that has no deductions and the give the buck everything it grows. Well, that meant the inside width was not counted. A few years later, folks complained that the score was to low...... so they added the width and called it a "composite" score (or something like that).
Ya just keep all the folks happy all of the time.
