    shoot through netting

I just got my first ground blind for fathers day. It is a Cabelas Lightning Set blind and has shoot through mesh windows. I wanted to ask how many shots can a person shoot through the netting before the window must be replaced? Do you ned to replace after each shot, or when the window is full of holes? Thanks, Woody

Woody, the experience that I have had is it will last a LONG time. Shooting the fixed blades, you have to look close to see the broadhead hole. It is amazing how hard the holes are to find.

    Good Luck.

I personally cut a fist size hole that I shoot through every shot!
The netting last forever that way.Either way it is going to last
      a long time.

Don't sweat it. You'll go a long, long time before you need to replace the netting. I've had my blind for several years now, and have shot turkey, deer, and hogs from it. There is still plenty of life left in the original netting.

I've bought replacement netting for natural ground blinds that I've built, and I figured that I'd be replacing the stuff in the factory blinds w/some of it.....but have not had to do so as of yet.

Good luck to you with your new blind this season!

The weather (sunlight) has a lot to do with how long your netting will last, plus how many blades pass thru. We replace our shoot thru netting every year or two, depending on usage, as the tighter the netting, the less possible chance of arrow deflection. JMO and experience.

I shot a rifle through mine once. Had to replace it. I don't recommend it. Ha ha ha.

I cut a slit and pull it back to form a diamond or just cut a rectangle to shoot through. I leave the netting up, but shoot through the holes. Works for me. I just never liked to shoot through the netting. Hard for me to focus on the spot I want to hit. Plus, I've never had a problem getting them close with the shoot through diamonds, thus not seeing the need for the netting.

I don't personally like to shoot through the mesh, especially during low light conditions. I find that once it starts to get into those low light conditions, that it is much harder to find your spot you are shooting once you draw back and are looking through a peep. I would either go with what tuthdoc, chris, or double lung has recommended or not use it at all and just brush in your blind really well with small holds to shoot through.
