    opening day depression

well due to financial reasons i was not able to get on a lease this year so while everyone is excited and geared up for opening day i am trying not to think about this weekend . oh well that is just the way it goes i want to wish evryone else good luck and if anybody could do a live hunt i can follow along and pretend i was there, once again good luck to all.

There is plenty of public land near you

I know it is not fun to hunt with everyone else and have to put up with the shenanigans of some ut it beats sitting in the house

t.p.w.d. call it public hunting. at one time call type two. 1 million acres of land on hunt. cost is just about 40.00 a year. far to late for bow this year, there may be too many places to see before get just what you want. its well worth the money for the hunters that dont have a place.

If you go to academy it is called an APH it is 48 dollars for the year along with your hunting license and they will send you a book with all the lands in for free it comes with the aph and if you buy the aph and the book will not get to you before opening weekend you can always look at all the public land by getting on tpwd.com click hunting then public land then click map booklet i am 17 and cant afford a lease so i have been hunting public land for years so if you need more information then message me and i will give you my number i will be in sam houston national forest opening day. it is great and there are plenty of deer there are no permits or extra needed for doe or buck.

          Good luck brother

check out the public hunting opportunities section on this site. It has alot of good information. I am in a worse boat. I have public land 15 minutes away but I am going to be to busy with schoolwork to be able to hunt much this season at all.

                    LBJ Grasslands
Benbrook and Grapevine Lake Corps of Engineers Land

LBJ Grasslands North of Decatur are greatness. There aren't as many bow hunters as you'd think.

drenalindude, check out the public draw hunts that TPWD has and try and get on standby. Several times I have hunted the Chapparal on standby. Good luck
