    AR15 Red Dot Scope ?

If I put a red dot scope on an AR15 without a magnifier, at what distance is it good to? SHould a put a regular scope on it to shoot 100 yards?

    what is your intended target??

pie plates with a 4moa dot are childs play at 100yds...ground squirrels, not so much.

      This

Just depends what you intend to use it for, urban combat you'll be fine but if you are going after varmits, not past 40-50 yrds with no magnification.

Hogs/varmits to 100-150 yards. Thanks for the info. I guess I will be putting a regular scope on it.

My longest hog kill with my eotech no magnification is a bit over 275 yards. double lung shot It was a 150 lb hog and I just held the red dot over his back and let the lead fly.

But you need to know you equipment and ammo.

Try the red dot at 100 yards and see what groups you get and your comfort level.

It will work for some and not for others.

I would not hesitate to shot a 50 lb of bigger hog at 100 yards with mine if I had a good solid rest...

I have the Vortex Sparq. It is a Red Dot with a 2x magnifier that can be removed. I have it on an AR. I can get 4" groups at 100 with no magnification, with it on it they go down to around 3". Bought it from Arrowsmith here on TBH for a good price. He is a dealer

Depends on dot size and quality of the glass. A 2MOA dot is good to 200yds if you know your rifle. I'd look at a 2-7 or 3-9 scope.
