Flail Mower info

Does anyone know about a flail mower. I am interested in one but was just told they are a pain, throw stuff etc. So any real life experience.

What size? Is it used? That is pretty much all we have at the prison. We use them to shred the crop stubble left in the fields after harvest. They should have a row of drop chains in the front and the back that prevent it from throwing objects very far from under the deck.

They aren't real good for mowing grass but would be great for mowing small underbrush, briars and larger weeds.

They are reverse rotation, throwing debris toward tractor, and are not made for cutting grass. Good for bigger stuff like Jaspro said. Rocks will hual butt out toward you!!! Be careful.
