Only hunt south Texas, so I have a question for anyone north east of Houston

So I live in the back of Newport in Crosby, very near the lake/river. I have a large feeder from which I feed corn year round'. I have deer there regularly like clockwork from late January through the early to mid August. I'm talking anywhere from 8-10 deer. Mostly Doe to small 8t's. There are large 10's around but they very rarely come to the feeder, mostly after nightfall. Very seldom do I see even a doe in Nov.-Jan. Feb comes and they all return. The wood's are very thick near our home, may have plenty to eat, but it's almost as if they know that hunting season means bad things in and around that metal contraption that spits food. Weird, cause I can drive around the corner less than 50 yards, and the same deer I see all year are hanging out on the edge of the woods or on the golf course, but they don't come near my feeder. Makes me believe that hunting East Texas would be more successful if you set up near, but not within bow range of your feeder... Out of sight...

Question is: Is this the case in all of East Texas? Never really hunted in the East, but I read a lot of green screeners say that they only see bucks at their feeders on night camera photos.

I have the same problem and I think its the acorns dropping and the deer going after them instead of corn

It seems like it would help with the older bucks especially... That being said most of our blinds are set up within bow range of the feeders. On a side not there are a lot of deer in this area! I live in Indian Shores by the lake and we see deer in the woods around here pretty frequently.

My wife and I had this house built. We live right next to a water drainage/easement. Thick woods on the other side is owned by a mexican gentleman that never comes to the US. He lives in deep south Mexico. Wish I could buy the lot from him but no way to get in touch with him. We used to have 10-15 hogs there everyday like clockwork as well, but the golf course manager makes sure those Hogs are thinned out. Wish I could get on his hog huntin' list of folks with permission.

Canyou go to the court house(tax office) and get a current address from them to contact him? Heck, may even have a phone #. Worth a try!!!!! Is there anyone managing the upkeep of the place, yard mowing? Tehy have to be getting paid from someone if so. Contact info there!!!!!

My wife's aunt is a Realtor, so whatever "special" website they use to see who owns what property and where the property is; says that he lives in some town south of Mexico City. He's also lives in some type of wealthy community... needless to say, I don't even think he cares about selling the place as he has enough money as it is. As far as the lot is concerned, no upkeep needed as the lot is not leveled. Still woods.

I very rarely see a BIG buck at a corn feeder. I have caught a few pics of them at night or at protein feeders but everywhere i have hunted all over the state it seems to stay the same. I have always hunted senderos and had a feeder around to just keep does around. Every 150" plus deer i have taken has been either just off the beaten path close to a feeding area or on a sendero no where near a feeder. I would try putting out spot corn by hand away from your feeders and set up there if you can.

                I totally agree...

I've killed a few deer that go over 150 and not one of them have ever been seen in or around any deer feeder, but within 75 yards of one on a sendero or on a brush line.
