    Got selected for jury duty

I am not supposed to disclose much but its a murder case. out of the 50 put in I was selected. Guess I should have lied under oath like the rest of them.

I said a prayer this morning to give me and all the jurors the strength to get through the day, and make the right decision on the matter.

about to walk out the door now for the start of the trial...

feeling a little nervous, and some pressure.

Relax. It can be a fun process.
South Carolina does it a little different. They call you in for a week. They pick every morning and at lunch for any cases they have. Got tagged for three that week.

You will do fine. You should be proud to be able to serve your community.

I had to report for Jury Duty selection a few weeks ago for sexual misconduct with a minor. Thankfully I wasn't selected as my stomach turned into a knot as soon as I found out the charges.

If it would, at that point I look at the judge and say, "Your Honor, it is against this individuals best interest to have me on this jury because as of right now, that dirty SOB should fry for what he/she has done". You'll be huntin' before any rut kicks in

Good for you..... One of the best things you can do for your community. If I am a defendant on trial, I sure want somebody who is serious about it, not somebody who wanted to get out of it....

Jury service is something that many people work hard to get out of, but I think it is a very valuable opportunity to serve your community.

X 2 on what Bullydog said.

Good job man. Have a clear head, listen to all the evidence and decide after that.

Wow! Then why even bother with the time and expense of a trial? I guess we should just start sentencing people after arrest.

A murder trial is not going to be fun for you. It will be a difficult journey, with grave responsibilities. I'm thankful for people like you who take this seriously and prayerfully. Thank you for your service.

Look on it as a learning experience. There will be experts and hopefully knowledgable lawyers that may enlighten you somewhat. Focus on the benefit and not the bad.

And like Bullydog said, if my son was on trial, I'd want somebody who was thinking about his life and not the rut.

As an attorney, I would love to serve on a jury. I try like hell to get on. I hide in the pool and only answer questions/raise my hand when I HAVE to answer. With my wife's being an assistant DA and all the judges knowing me, however, I'm usually the first person struck.

Remember that you're fulfilling one of the critical functions in our society. In fact, you might find that it'll be one of the most rewarding things you ever do.
