Check out my grandfather's buck from 1958

My grandpa Ray Hartis passed away while I was in the Marines in Panama. I wasn't able to come home for the funeral. He was a successful business man (started Ductmasters, Inc, Eastex Sheetmetal, and his 4 sons started Pitts & Spitts BBQ Pits). He loved to deer hunt and here is a buck that made the newspapers. I saw this mount hanging up in his shop as a child but had no appreciation for it at the time. One of my uncles had the mount restored with the velvet and a new cape. It's in Huffman, Tx now and I hope to see it again now that it is restored. This is too cool.

Now that is a very cool story and newspaper article. My grandfather (Arkansas) was well known for blasting the first buck that came into range. And he killed plenty of 'em too, but nothing even close to that.

Very nice Bobby. Maybe you can go see it and post some pictures of it when you do. How is that stand holding up for you?
