I finaly had enough of varmint cages, coons, and cows eating the corn that piled up under my feeder due to the varmint cage I had to build to keep the coons off.
Got in touch with Karl at Ultramatic last Mon. or Tues and ordered up a brand spankin new 12 volt "The Timer", complete with battery, solar panel, and his new "Eliminator" spinner plate....it was at the casa Wed. when I got home from work. I've got a couple "The Timers" from Karl before so I knew how great they were.....but the "Eliminator" is a baaad hombre!
Went out to the lease this weekend and got it bolted on the bottom of a feeder and I'm very impressed so far. It's similar to a spin tech, but works much better than the two I have. It has little bicycle chain, links that lock up when the motor isn't spinning, making it impossible to pull the plate down and get corn out. When the motor kicks on, centrifugal force pulls the links out, and lets the plate drop.......it's genius is what it is! The plate itself is a better design than Spin Tech, and gets the corn out better IMO. The whole assembly is much more fluid.
I was sold on spin techs anyway, but there is no question in my mind that the "Eliminator" is a much better working design, and I'm betting it will be more trouble free over the long term as well.
I would reccomend anyone who's battling coons, go get you one of these rigs! Man I'm glad to be out of the varmint cage business!
