Does anyone have the Polaris Ranger EV?

Just wondering what your thoughts about it were, and if you like it?

I saw the one there at the shop in Graham -- just can't convince myself to spend 10 grand on a golf cart.

yeah it is pretty pricey, but its the same price as a Bad Boy buggie and out performs the Bad Boy. I dont know I guess it just depends on what your lookin for.

I test drove one and it has a LOT of power. It's range was right around 50 miles if I remember right. Not bad, but it depends on how much you use it at a time.

If you live in a somewhat arid area I could see it being a nice vehicle. Not sure I'd want to use it in the slop though.

Also, battery charging has to be done at very specific intervals and the batteries can have a memory if I'm not mistaken. So, you can't just drive it home with a half charge and plug it in. It needs to be close to empty each time. At least that's what the dealer told me.

I looked closely at one before I bought my bad boy... they actually compare
the EV to the older BB, not the newer XT model . It's nice that it's an AC
motor, and that it drives the polaris drivetrain... so you get the 2wd or
4wd at the flick of a switch...

The newer batteries don't have a memory, per se... depending on which
ones you get... all batteries like this have to be conditioned at first...
a careful cycling, charging, and refilling with distilled water, for about
the first 20 times you run the batteries down, to build up to their full
capacity... the run time on my BB almost tripled after carefully doing
            this process...

Just figure out what you need your UTV to do... if it's run around and play,
and go mudding, or hit the trails for 5 or 6 hours, electric is not for you..

If you want to haul you and a buddy, or some corn and gear around, or
get to and from your stand, or haul your deer back, without a lot of noise,
or stinking up the woods... electrics are hard to beat... they're not for
everyone.. but if they are... they are awesome to have...

ps... I've had numerous Rangers, and other polaris' to base my opinion on..

My next ranger will be the Ranger 500 Crew. It is still two rows of seats, but on the smaller Ranger 400 platform instead of the bigger 800 crew.. MSRP is $9999.

bought the EV LSV last week and used it for 3 days. Im happy I got it. real smooth for sure. I dont know if BB has 4 wheel independent suspension or not. The EV does and its nice. The EV takes 35 charges before the batteries will charge 100% so presently its only getting around 70% charge. Even with that I was able to go 15-20 miles and not see any difference in speed or power. I clocked it with GPS at 25mph with the full winshield installed and 300 lbs of corn in the bed. I have been real impressed so far. Its a little shorter than my old EZ GO and fits real nice in the toy hauler. if you have any specific questions, fire away
