what does "evaporation" mean when getting...

when getting a vehicle inspection? i passed my inspection but on the notes, there was a section that said " evaporation" and the report said "not ready". i asked what it meant and he just shrugged and said i passed but get it fixed by next year. obviously he was quite the conversationist so, do any of yall know what that means so i can get it fixed?

    thanks

It may have something to do with your gas tank cap. Did you have a full tank of gas during the inspection?

Probably a problem with the evap cannister purge system. It recycles fumes from the gas tank into the engine to be burnt,or some such. Google it to find the parts of the system that might have failed, valve, hoses, etc.

If it passed and no check engine light is on (its not, or it wouldnt have passed) dont worry about it till next year!

evap system. Fuel tank and vapor lines run under oz's of pressue. Computer will run self tests and when it fails (leak, charcoal canister, Evap pump, and yes gas cap) it will set the chk engine light. Looks like you passed it well enough

Don't worry about it, unless the Check engine light comes on.

I had this problem with my Mustang except it did throw a code and would NOT pass inspection. There is a valve and sensor between the canister and the intake manifold,I replaced the valve and blew out the canister and it did not solve the problem. I notice the vacuum line from the canister to the valve looked kinda decrepit so I replaced it.Bingo. Check engine light went off and code cleared. Apparently the tiny pores in the bad hose was allowing air into the system, above the limit.

Man if your moving to BCS then I wouldnt worry about it. That is CITY terms for liberals are worried about the ozone. You will get to BCS and they will come out and honk your horn, check your lights, and back up to see the brakes work and thats about it.
