So six inches is as wide as you would go for the windows?

6" from top to bottom gives you plenty of room for the rifle and less hole for the deer to see your movement. You can go to 12" for better viewing if you like. I have used both and just seem to prefer smaller openings to hide moveent inside the blind.

For a gun blind, 40 inches off the floor and the windows 10 inches high. I use a desk chair that is height adjustable.
