Just wondering if any of you have ever been attacked or know of anyone or any news reports of an hog actually injuring a person. Ive been injured on one spinning but I was grabbing ahold of his back legs with dogs baying his face. Just wondering if anyone has witnessed any of the hog attacks or is it all third- fourth- friend of a cousins neighbor type deals.

years ago a friend of mines dad was runing hog dogs and caught a 50 pound boar. They were all liquored up...way liquored up! They tied its legs up and its mouth shut and he threw it over his shoulder and was carrying it out alive. It got its mouth loose and split his side open purty good. Took a bunch of stitches to close him up. I woulda bit him too!

My son broke a 100 pound boars back with a 270 and I was following it through the brush when it came (dragging his hind end) at me with its front 2 legs purty PO'd

I've had them run dead at me, trying to get away and I was in the way...Not charging just running down the trail I was on. I just side stepped them.

I was going to say they are more scared of you than you are of them, but after reading your entire post, I'm not confident of that.

Don't worry - 99% of hogs will run as soon as they realize you are there. The other 1% will run a few minutes later.

Workin on the concealed carry...but I know it won't be in by bow season.
Guarantee, I'll be packin come October...between the snakes and illegals and possibility of pigs...I'll take the ticket if the GW decides to come onto our ranch and see if I'm carrying. Had too many folks come walking into camp unnanounced from the other side of the border to not carry all the time. Most are harmless, but BP has warned us.

Most of the time they will hear/sense you first and leave. Surprise one, though, and it'll instinctively charge. You can usually smell them first unless the wind is wrong.

A very good friend and hunting buddy of mine got 72 staples in his leg. He blindly followed his catch dog into a thicket only to find that "Rock" was on another hog. He surprised the second hog and was cut from his big toe to his mid-thigh and had 13 puncture wounds on the bottom of his feet from the hog "rooting" at him once he had him down. Hunt them hard enough and it will happen.

Im more worried about walking up on a covey of quail in the dark... Those things will make you jump more than anything else
X2. Birds make me jump more than anything else. Made me drop my flashlight more than once.

Hogs are scared of bunny rabbits at a feeder.

Put a red light on your bow and shoot them on the way in.

On the spider, I'd rather tackle a mad hog with nothing but a loincloth and a bone in my nose than run into a freakin spider and it's web.

I had a sow with piglets that bedded down at the feeder every night. First morning of bow season she growled and charged me. I had my carry license and pistol but she turned off when i got a light on her. She also charged the feeder when it went off. Stuck her at 20 yards and she was good eatin.
