I am probably going to buy a few blackbuck and want to plant some food they will eat. What do you recommend? Will they eat oats and wheat or do I need some type of improved grass?
Thanks.

I know at the dos plumas they were tearing up some old molded wheat seed a couple of weeks ago. I think they are pretty easy to maintain. Most exotics are not as picky about dinner as whitetails. Cold weather hurts em pretty bad though
They depend much more on grasses than do whitetails, so long term improved grasses would work. You will need both warm and cool season plantings. Mine like to spend their time in the open areas grazing on Alyce clover in the warm season. Winter is wheat, oats, elbon rye with a mix of clovers.
They love corn and protein as well, so to reduce cold losses I would suggest get them use to eating corn before it gets cold and prior to bad cold periods feed lots of corn. They need the carbs for generating body heat. Thermal cover is also important to them in the winter as well.. trees, heavy brush etc., evergreen species are the best. Good luck with them, they are a lot of fun to watch and hunt.
