i have a lease in runnels county for just the deer season. dove season, the land is leased to a group of dove hunters. i cant bow hunt till dove is over, but the land owner let me put my feeders up so we could get some trail pics, see what was coming in, ect. went to go get my card out of my camera, and the gate was locked so i called the owner. said that the game warden had said the feeders had to be turned off for dove season because it was considered baiting. he had the dove hunters turn off our feeders. when i went in, i found they had left our battery boxes open as well as taken the coon cages off and left them where they dropped. my point is, i guess, besides venting, on 400-500 acres, couldnt the dove hunters just maintained a legal distance, if there is one, away from the feeders? there are a couple of stock tanks on the property i assumed would be their main hunting area, and stayed pretty far away from them. what is ya'll's take on the situation?

You do realize that dove season goes all the way into December?

The fact of the matter is that it's a shame you have to even be put in this situation in the first place. The "no baiting" rule is absolutely rediculous. Whether it be deer, bear, duck or dove, they are hunted over some sort of "bait." A water hole is "bait." A sunflower patch is "bait." A scrape or pile of urine is "bait." Whether the "bait" is intentionally placed there by a hunter or a "naturally occuring" bait, it ALL bait. It all serves the same purpose. The bureaucrats need to stay out of our sport. This gentlemans story is just one perfect example of the problems caused by the "no baiting" rule. Sorry to hear about your problem buddy.

South zone ends Oct 31
There is a restart in December after Christmas but I'm assuming that is not part of the deal to keep him from hunting.
