That sucks. Hopefully you can find a replacement for it. Keep an eye on craigslist in the area as well.

Sorry to hear that Reynolds. If you don't have something in place when we make the big boy trip, maybe you can find something at the ranch.

          Sorry you got robbed!

I have to comment, however, that it is not always a father's failing that their children turn out sorry . Sometimes fathers (and mothers) can do everything right, and it just doesn't always "take" with some kids; maybe later, but sometimes kids, and adults, have character flaws. How many of us know ministers whose kids have screwed up?

I agree 100% Randy. I have known families that raise some really good kids and have one bad apple. A parent just has to do the best they can.

First off Ryan, I'm terribly sorry you were shafted like this. You are a man among men as far as I'm concerned. You are DEAD ON with your observation that many, if not most, men fail their families these days. I'm not saying ALL but I am saying most. The reason behind it is quite simply diagnosed as SELFISHNESS. Today's society teaches and reinforces the "what's good for me" and "what I want" mentalities. You are obviously ahead of the curve in that you realize what the root of the problem is. I just pray, regularly, that we as a nation come to our senses and the men step up and take their God given place in the household.

I agree that not ALL wayward kids are a result of poor parenting, but MOST of them are.
Even ministers have wayward kids as well, and many of those actually return to be ministers as well. But if you talk to those that return, thy will tell you that many times, their parents get too wrapped up in their ministry and their family takes the back seat and that's just not how God designed it. I challenge everyone to join me in a continual prayer for our families of this country, that they return to Gods word and His guidance. If you are in Him, you can't go wrong.

IF you get a chance talk to the local GW and give him a good describtion or even some pictures if you have them. They get on to property all the time with the local trouble makers and my spot it. When you build another one welder your name in a couple of places so that the thieves will have to rebuild it to hide that they stole it. Remeber thieves do not like to work. Sorry to hear about you loss on something that you put your heart into.
I have seen and heard of flood waters moving things several counties before so if that may have also happened.

There's nothing worse than that feeling you get when you realize someone has stolen from you!

It just so happens that I sold my place last year, and will not be hunting this year.I also happen to have a Monarch 55 gal feeder(12 v,solar panel, critter guard)that I,of course, will not be using. So if you are willing to drive to Arlington and pick it up,you are welcomed to use it until you can build a new one.If you need it all season, that's fine.

I use to deal with that same thing for years. One day the old guy in the house before our land died and his son's & grandson's finally quit poaching too. I never left feeders thru the year, would always take them down at then end of season. Go to Academy and buy the Remington/Wildlife polly feeders for less than $100. they go up quick ( I do replace legs w/ steel pipe due to hogs ) and last about 5 yrs or so.

                              Fellas -

Thanks for all of the kind words. Sorry for the delay in a response, but as I said earlier, I have had one heck of a busy weekend schedule.

This was my first thought. Again, I was worried about the previous rains before I even arrived at the lease on Saturday. I walked the creek in both directions until I hit our fenceline, many of the terrain obviously impossible for the feeder to get through even in the strongest current. There is no possible way that my feeder would have made it off of the property because of flood waters. And if it was still on our property I would have no doubt seen it.

Thanks so much for these offers!! Very generous of you. As of right now, I made a few phone calls and MAY have found something to use temporarily, but won't know until Tuesday if it will be usable or not. As soon as I know differently I'll be letting you guys know. And Codie, that winch up feeder may be the way to go for me as my location for the feeder makes it a bit of a hassle to get a vehicle within close proximity for use in filling the feeder (this is the exact reason why I built the one I did). I'll let you know, but in the meantime, do you mind PM'ing me some details on it? Any info is appreciated. Plus, I know the Jacksboro to Graham route by heart having grown up in the west wise/east jack county area and traveled through there to Abilene for school for four years.

I couldn't agree with you more, Travis. I am not sure if I was just too naive in my younger days, but this point of "what's good for me" mentality was never more relevant than when I moved to the north dallas area. It simply baffles me when trying to understand what some of these people are thinking. Their complete self-absorbtion or total disregard for any other person that they come into contact with is just astounding. And I'm with Country Boy in that i would still be seeing stars if I ever would have done something like this or acted this way towards another person. I can, to this day, still hear my father's words of "Don't be so **** nice, ain't nobody sick." And that has stuck with me.

Also, in going to a private university, I have been very fortunate to build relationships with several ministers in today's churches, and many of them came from the background of having a father as a minister. And I can assure you that, though they may be minister's now, they were not always the strong Christion people that you see them as today.

I plan to contact my local game warden tomorrow and provide a positive description of the feeder, along with several pictures of the final product so he may know it when he sees it. Thanks for this advice!

And for revkev and marceco, kudos to you gentleman. May God give you discernment in your path of following Him and leading your children to the light.

Again, thanks for all of the kind words. I'll keep you guys updated if any news comes up as I am still hopeful yet doubtful.

I HATE THIEVES!!! Had someone break into my truck a few weeks ago just to go through my glove compartment. About $400 worth of damage to my door locks for nothing. Good luck.
