I grew up in Yoakum and my Grandma lived across the street from the VFW hall in Shiner. The Shiner church picnic was a staple. I still remember picking up beer cans for money when I was little and making some empty cans in the beer garden in my later years. I can still taste the fried chicken. Dang this is making me home sick.
