Hunting Requlations question - Non-Toxic Shot

OK, so here's all I can find in the hunting regulations to answer my question:

"Nontoxic Shot: While waterfowl hunting, only nontoxic shot approved by the director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service may be possessed. Lead shot is unlawful! "

So my question is, can I Teal hunt in the morning with steel shot, bring birds back to the truck, get my lead shot out and go dove hunting afterward?

yep, just dont leave any lead in your vest while duck hunting! Accidents happen, but the GW won't listen to that!

Why dont you buy some Winchester Expert Steel 2 3/4'' in 6 shot. It is the same price as the double A's or cheaper and you can still drop teal with out a problem. That is what I use and havent had any trouble dropping dove or teal. You dont need the big heavy duck loads, the teal are about the size of a white wing and during the early teal season they are not as leary as in November you can usually get them in pretty close.

as long as you have no lead on you or in your gear while teal hunting. make sure all your lead is locked in your truck.

They are pushing to make dove hunting with Steel Shot but have not been able to get it passed.

Because there are federal laws against shooting lead to take migratory waterfowl. Laws don't have to make sense to be enforceable.

Try to figure this one out. When I hunt public refuges in Cali for ducks, during pheasant season in the state game refuge we can hunt pheasants with lead. Across a barbed wire fence is a federal wildlife area we can hunt pheasants but must shoot steel. I guess if you're hunting pheasants and a duck flys over, you have to pass on the shot.
